Slimming, Elegant and Chic

IMG_5634I am all about black on black lately. When I was younger I always gravitated towards bright, fun colors. However, the older I get… and lets be honest here… after four kids, black is my new favorite color. It is slimming, it is elegant and it is chic! I was going out on a much needed date night with my hubby. I try to keep our date nights special by dressing up for my man, but it also makes me feel special. After 11 years of marriage and 16 years of dating, I still feel special when my hubby takes me out on a date. I think staying in love is a choice. You know what keeps you in love, tell your spouse. And in return, do what makes your spouse stay in love with you.

“Try telling your man he is the most wonderful man in the world, and see if he doesn’t start acting like it.” I heard that one day and I couldn’t agree more. I think that if you speak words of kindness, respect and love, you will reap just that- kindness, respect and love! Weird huh? ;)

“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24

Dating is so important. For many years we couldn’t go on dates. Because our kids were too little. I was either nursing or I didn’t have babysitters I could trust. Once our kids got older and we met some amazing young ladies at our church, we started dating again. And let me tell you, it is a priority to us. It is so necessary to not lose your identity as a mate when you have children. I know it’s not easy, but it is doable. Even if a date means putting your kids to bed at a decent time and having a backyard date with some take out and music. Just be intentional. Plan for a romantic night just the two of you.

Here is a little inspiration if you are going out on the town with someone special. I am wearing my favorite faux leather pants. I think I got them at H&M a while back. Similar here (on sale for $15!). And a black chunky sweater ,mine is also old but similar here (under $25) with some leather booties (here). I am wearing my favorite black coat. I got this coat a while back at Nordstrom Rack and it is amazing. It not only looks pretty but it keeps me super warm. I love how I can dress it up or down. Similar here. I took some pictures of how different you can wear your outfit and bag to change it up, you choose. Having options is always a good idea right? ;)

Xoxo, Linda
