There’s No Competition//Casual Fall Style

IMG_5499I wanted to share something that’s been in my heart the past couple weeks. I read a post that said, “Girls compete, Women empower each other.” It struck a cord with me. Not that girls are immature or anything like that. But just the concept of growing into a woman means growing comfortable in your own skin, realizing you are irreplaceable and finding out your unique gifts. You were made so perfect and special. I can’t help but remember my teenage years, and how I wasn’t sure of who I was. I tried to act like I had it all together but the truth is, I didn’t. As time passes and I grow older, there is one thing I have realized that is so important to learn. The younger you learn this, the better. Stay teachable! Don’t ever be above or too proud to learn something new and grow. I know it isn’t always easy, but as uncomfortable as it may be, you will realize who you are sooner than later. Not based on anyone else’s approval, but based on your own understanding. The more you open your mind to advise and other’s wisdom, you will be able to see what you want to adopt and what is not suitable for you. Being teachable doesn’t mean you have to agree with everyone’s opinion. And it certainly doesn’t mean you have to be a pushover. It means you are confident enough to see the beauty and strength in others and you want to always grow to be the best YOU! Don’t compete with anyone else, compete with yourself. Be the best version of yourself! It is natural to have feelings when you see something you like on someone else. Wether it be material things, character traits, body image, anything! But what you choose to do with that is up to you. I choose to use it to propel me to be the best I can be. To appreciate other’s positive influence in my life and use it to encourage them and grow in the process. The crazy thing is when you see an elderly person that still competes with others. Age doesn’t always give you wisdom. A teachable heart does. I know I struggle sometimes, I think we all do, we are humans. But I immediately check myself and start thinking thoughts of affirmation, both of myself and the other person. God made us all perfect. We all have beauty and strength, don’t fall into the lies of the enemy. You are enough, you are beautiful and you were made for a purpose. Okay, now for my outfit of the day. I love these booties because they are super comfortable and they are a must this season. I love distressed jeans, I have found that American Eagle Outfitter’s jeans fit me well. And they make short, regular and tall. I get the short ones since I’m 5’2″. Oh and can I just confess right now that I am obsessed with hats this year? Like seriously, I ALWAYS want to wear a hat! lol. They can make a casual outfit just a little more stylish by throwing a cute hat or beanie on. I got this hat for $.50 a few months back! Yes, fifty CENTS!! I was in shock when the girl told me it was the last one on clearance at Wet Seal. And I love it! Also, if you haven’t heard of the Giving Key, you need to! I love their inspiration for their pieces. I had wanted to get this necklace but hadn’t gotten around to look into it. One of my best friend’s somehow knew I would love it for my birthday (I hadn’t told her) and it was such a sweet surprise when she gave it to me. I wear it all the time! Mine says “Brave” and I just love wearing it.  It meant so much to me when I saw it, especially since I had not told her. Friends like that are so amazing aren’t they?

Xoxo, Linda
